"Total Solar Eclipse 2024: How to Watch Live Online and Safety Tips"

What's a Solar Eclipse?
A solar eclipse happens when the Moon moves between the Earth and the Sun, blocking out the Sun's light either fully or partially.

Total Solar Eclipse 2024:
This upcoming eclipse will cast its shadow across a 185-kilometer stretch from Mexico to Canada, with 18 US states getting a glimpse. Unfortunately, it won't be visible from India.

When and Where:
Mark your calendars for April 8. The eclipse kicks off at 9:12 pm IST and reaches totality at 10:08 pm IST, lasting until 2:22 am on April 9. The spectacle begins on the Pacific coast of Mexico around 11:07 am PDT and ends in Maine at 1:30 pm PDT.

How Long:
The whole event spans about two and a half hours, but totality lasts just four minutes and 27 seconds at its peak.

Safety First:
Never look directly at the Sun without proper eye protection like eclipse glasses. Staring at the Sun can seriously damage your eyes.

Watch Online:
Can't catch it in person? No worries! NASA will livestream the eclipse starting at 10:30 pm IST. Join in for expert discussions and telescope views along the eclipse path. McDonald Observatory in Texas and timeanddate.com will also stream the event on YouTube starting at 10:00 pm IST.
